China’s 2022 Holiday Calendar

The official Chinese public holiday calendar for 2022 was released on October 25. Check the dates for Chinese New Year and other public holiday periods throughout the coming year.

The official Chinese public holiday calendar for 2022 was released on 25 October.

The most important things to know:

All of the holidays based on the Chinese lunar calendar are slightly earlier this year than usual. This means that for a second year in a row, Mid-Autumn Festival will be a three-day holiday rather than included in an extended October “Golden Week” holiday.

The Beijing 2022 Olympics open on 4 February, in the middle of the Chinese New Year holiday.

The May 1 Labor Day holiday has been made a five-day holiday for the third year in a row, signalling a permanent change. It was originally extended from three days to four in 2019, then to five consecutive days in 2020.
